...other cars. Yikes! Who knew?
Last Thursday I had an accident. I am sure you can tell by the looks of things, it was my fault. Yes, I rear-ended some nice lady, making her rear-end some other nice lady.
Noone was hurt. Only some bent metal. I was able to drive the car home and all. Today I took it to the shop and got a rental car. There is a nice Mazda 3 for me to drive if I need it.
Funny thing is, when I started riding my bike, Melissa was scared. She was scared that I would get killed by a car on my way to the bus stop. Now she is scared for me to drive.
So much for my 15 official years with no accidents. Thursday I had to reset the counter. Now it reads 5 days accident free!
Strange thing is that I am not as embarrassed as I thought I would be. I know that it was just an accident and that I need not to take my driving privileges and skill for granted. Mysterious ways and all that. Good thing is that I've been able to use this as a teachable moment for the kids. I've tried to show them that accidents happen, but you have to pick yourself up and move on.
Melissa's been scared. Usually, I am a calming influence, but this time not-so-much. Any encouragement you might have would be good for her. Anyway...
